“A New Voice”
Reviewer: Jeanne McIntee
One of the things that I love most about being human is the exchange that happens in conversation – exchange of thoughts, exchange of feelings, exchange of ideas, exchange of experiences and exchange of heart that happens when one is willing to reveal the depths of person and soul. A Breath Of Fresh Air, (with shrapnel) is as close as I have come to ‘reading ‘ a conversation -one that ignites thoughts that spark understanding, gives pause and in the end, simply covers your heart like soft, warm water. Its prose is at once fierce and soft-spoken, for as with all authentic voices, its power lies in the truth it carries rather than its volume. Within its pages, the prose and poetry offered reveals a voice that is deep and rich, a voice that is at once both intimate and inviting, intelligent and engaging and disarming in its vulnerable strength. As the last page was turned I found myself wanting more, missing the sound of its voice before I’d even set the book down.

Alisa’s “Everyman” Voice: Universal and Personal
Reviewer: C. Bohnet
As a person in the midst of his own similar journey to wholeness and redemption, I find Alisa’s words hopeful, comforting, insightful and at times, just plain downright funny!! A Breath of Fresh Air (with shrapnel) is at different times, exactly what I am looking for/needing and at other times exactly what I wasn’t expecting, but pleasantly surprised to find. The “breath of fresh air” for me is how Alisa has a way of writing in that “every man’s voice,” but at the same time making it personal – both yours and hers – AND adding this wicked sense of self-deprecating humor, the “shrapnel.” Whether on your own journey or simply needing a gentle reminder of your own humanness, A Breath of Fresh Air (with shrapnel) is definitely a book you will want to keep close at hand and a “Must Read” recommendation to your friends.
